THE PATHWAY

Understand the NIOS Class 10 pathway

The NIOS Secondary course is equivalent to Class 10. To receive the Secondary certificate, a learner must pass a minimum of five subjects, including at least one language and no more than two languages. Students may also take up to two additional subjects.

Mathematics and Science are not compulsory for the general NIOS Secondary certificate. This allows families to build a subject combination that reflects the student’s abilities, interests and future plans.

Subject selection should still be handled carefully. Certain Class 12 pathways, colleges, professional courses or career options may require specific subjects. Ankuram therefore begins with counselling before recommending a combination.

FLEXIBLE DOES NOT MEAN UNPLANNED

The right subject combination should balance the student’s strengths, learning needs, future study plans, workload and official NIOS requirements.
